Pet Owners Consider Their Pets as Family
When dog and cat owners in Kansas City and Independence need help feeding their pets, they can turn to HEAL KC.
With the support of generous donors, HEAL KC can provide food to hundreds of pet families each year. Our goal is to distribute 2 tons of pet food to individuals, homeless shelters and rescues each year.
We understand that a family should not have to give up a pet because they struggle to buy pet food.

Who is eligible?
HEAL KC does not have specific financial criteria, our pet food pantry is designed to serve people who are struggling to feed their pets. It is meant to supplement food that you already have but you just don't have enough to make it through the month.
Monthly support requires proof of spay/neuter AND up to date rabies vaccine.
Do I have to be from Independence or Kansas City, Missouri?
There is no geographic restriction. We work with individuals, rescues, and shelters from all over the region so we are glad to help wherever you happen to live.
How often can I get food?
If you are having an urgent need with pet food, we encourage you to contact us so we can help.

HEAL KC believes in the healing power of companion pets and of the human/animal bond which is very important in the lives of many on limited incomes, seniors, veterans and houseless individuals. They find solace, protection, and companionship through their pets. Our task is to feed and provide resources to the pets and their families without judgement.

At HEAL KC, our passion for pets started when our founder, Nicole King, saw on daily basis families in need of food and support resources for their pets . From that moment on, Nicole knew that she wanted to help other pets in need.
HEAL-KC is focused on ending economic euthanasia and animal surrender by pet owners due to inability to pay to feed their pets.

At HEAL KC, our passion for pets started when Nicole, our founder, rescued three dogs. From that moment on, she knew that she wanted to help other pets in need.
The Growth
What startedi in 2023 as a one-woman operation where Nicole paid for pet food out of her retirement money has now grown into a community resource non-profit. We have a team of dedicated volunteers who are committed to providing exceptional outreach to pets in our community.
